A beautiful bird-singing day on 19th, with long sunny periods and little wind. The maximum temperature was 20.7C. All the flowers are early this year - the philadelphus is in full bloom, figs are nearly full-size and the potatoes have been flowering for a week or so. A nice, fresh spotted wood was settling around the bay tree in the afternoon. Thankfully, slugs have been in short supply - one advantage of the dry weather. So far we have had just over 50% of the monthly average rainfall for May - a lot more than places further east.
